Apparently Dubfire is road testing some new DJ hardware and software for NI,

Looks interesting, especially the controller.

very interesting...

that software looks like you can preload specific loops as well as your tracks.. that'd be pretty huge in my book..

the controller seems huge.. will wait to know exactly what it is/does before i make any sort of judgement call.. all i can see is that jog-wheels on a controller for traktor annoy me.. there's really no point.. if you're gonna use em for "spinning your tracks" that's just retarded.. if you go all-controller, might as well beatgrid and actually use your software for all it's worth, no?

wait, i think i just passed judgement on the controller..

anyways, as i stated immediately.. very interesting, can't wait to learn more.. thanks for the post!

It looks like there is a dedicated sample deck for each deck. Pretty neat. I think the jog wheels are lame though. I hope it comes as an update as opposed to having to pay however I'd still pay for the damn thing winking smiley I still need to get my hands on a X1 and see how I like that.

save your money and buy some midi controllers and do the mapping yourself.. the x1 feels and looks great, but there's something to be said for the DIY factor and really getting to know your hardware/software instead of having others think for you...

actually, you got a mac, so maybe you DO want an x1 so you don't have to think for yourself.....

i kid, i kid... winking smiley

I totally agree on the jog wheels, seems so amateurish. If you are using Traktor to it's fullest potential i.e. beat grids and sync there is really no need for a jog wheel. It's really nothing more than an endless rotary knob.

And while I agree the X1 is pretty, for the price I can get 4 Nano Kontrolls and have WAY more control over my software and be able to do more stuff than I can with an X1.

As for the sofware, looks like they have a 4 deck system still, but it seems you can toggle the decks to just be a single deck, or toggle it be a multi sampler if you will.

There are some high res photos here from the video that gives a bit more insight into the hardware and software

As a final personal thought on the controller, they should just ditch the jog wheels and have a two more deck transports so you have a total of four instead of two and having to toggle between the decks. Just my only personal gripe on what I know about it so far.

this:

is super sexy... wonder if that's just a "visual" bank of saved loops that much easier to call on than in the existing software....

edit... wait... the sample deck is like deck c/d isn't it? curiosity even more piqued now...

all i know is this.. it looks dead sexy..

Yeah, from what it looks like deck C and D are just running multiple loops, and I'm willing to bet you can do the same with decks A and B. So you can toggle them to act any way you wish, be it a deck for a single tune, or a sampler to run up to four loops.

All speculation of course, but that would make the most sense
